Dr. Payel Kundu is a Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk with 1 year of consulting experience. She has professional experience in the areas of neurotoxicology and human health risk and hazard assessment. She completed her PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her training and research focused on determining the cognitive and potentially toxic effects of phytoestrogens post-menopause using in vivo models. Furthermore, Dr. Kundu performed gene and protein expression analyses in the brain to better elucidate the pathways of action for these compounds. Dr. Kundu also completed a three-year postdoctoral fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University conducting research on Alzheimer’s disease, metabolic disease, and the gut microbiome. As a consultant, Dr. Kundu has participated in multiple efforts that include understanding the toxicology, potential exposure, hazard and risk associated with occupational exposures, consumer products, and electronic cigarette devices.
