Ms. Best is a Supervising Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk. She earned a Masters of Epidemiology from the University of Colorado and a Bachelors of Arts in marine science with a focus in chemistry from the University of San Diego. Her academic training includes epidemiology, statistical analyses, and environmental chemistry. Her graduate thesis focused on the potential association between polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon exposures and cognitive function performance in an elderly population surveyed as part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Since starting at Cardno ChemRisk she has reviewed and summarized legal case materials, performed comprehensive literature reviews, conducted quantitative exposure assessments, and performed meta-analyses. Ms. Best has been involved in evaluating the health risks associated with a variety of consumer products and chemicals, including asbestos, talc, ethylene oxide, benzene, diesel, herbicides, and pesticides.

In addition, Ms. Best has experience with analytical data validation and field work. She has validated organic, inorganic, and radiological data for both water and soil samples. Ms. Best has participated in sample collection fieldwork at numerous oil and gas plants, mines, and commercial facilities. The analytical data obtained from samples collected during these trips were used for compliance with government organization monitoring programs, data gap analysis, background contamination level analysis, human health risk assessments, and ecological risk assessments.
