Biography
Dr. Heidi O’Neill is a Supervising Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk, located in Boulder, Colorado. Her primary training and areas of expertise include inhalation toxicology, dose-response modeling, neuropharmacology, and developmental toxicology. Dr. O’Neill received her Ph.D. in Toxicology at University of Colorado Health Sciences, where her dissertation investigated antioxidant therapeutics for rescue treatment following chemical weapons inhalation exposure. As a postdoctoral researcher, she studied the interface of genetics of nicotinic receptors and developmental nicotine exposure, evaluating mechanistic and behavioral outcomes over multiple generations. Dr. O’Neill has authored or coauthored over 60 published articles and abstracts on the topics of developmental nicotine exposure, mechanisms of nicotine tolerance, innate inflammatory responses to cigarette smoke, antioxidant therapeutics for sulfur mustard exposure, and pharmacotherapeutics for schizophrenia.
