Dr. Alice A. Han is a Health Scientist with Cardno ChemRisk, located in Boulder, Colorado. Dr. Han received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, where her interest in analytical chemistry with biological applications launched several research projects utilizing instrumentation, organic synthesis, and biochemical techniques to probe biological questions. She then completed her PhD in Chemistry, with a focus in Analytical Chemistry, at West Virginia University. Her dissertation work explored the stress response in vitro, in vivo, and in human subjects resulting from a variety of stressors (environmental exposures, physical injuries, medical agents) and analyzed the network of biochemical signals to identify discrete patterns that may potentially be used for predictive or biomonitoring purposes.
As a postdoctoral researcher with the Chemical Biology and Exposure Science Team at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Dr. Han coupled computational methods with in vitro work to build Physiologically Based Pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models to assess the feasibility of rapid and non-invasive salivary biomonitoring of environmental and occupational exposures. She also worked on in vitro assessments of probe sensor technology to examine enzymatic contributions of Phase I metabolism.
