Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants (risk factors) of diseases in human populations.  It is considered the gold standard for assessing the relationship between certain toxicants and specific diseases or other health effects.

Cardno ChemRisk has conducted a wide variety of epidemiology studies in both community and occupational settings, using proven methodologies and state-of-the-art techniques.  We specialize in understanding the epidemiologic literature for many chemicals, and are experienced at characterizing hazards using a weight-of-the-evidence approach, or meta-analysis. We also design and conduct studies, and analyze data to identify trends and patterns related to exposure levels.  We always consider the impact of other potential exposures in any given situation.

Our work has clarified many health risk issues, guided regulatory decision-making, and improved the safety and sustainability of products and operations.  For details, below is a sampling of case studies. You will also find links on this page to our Epidemiology team and literature.
